Paul Ryan


55Paul Ryan graduated from UNSW in 1977 with degrees in Commerce (Industrial Relations) and Law. Since then, Paul has worked in the industrial relations arena for almost 40 years, mostly in the road transport industry.

Since 1997, Paul has assisted the Victorian Transport Association (VTA) with both strategic and operational industrial advice on industrial/workplace relations issues.
Currently these include:

  • the 4 yearly review of modern awards
  • Advice to members concerning unfair dismissals
  • Submissions on behalf of the industry on major industrial cases
  • General IR advice and assistance as requested by members

Paul is the National Industrial Advisor for both the VTA and the Australian Road Transport Industrial Organisation, which is the national industrial organisation representing employers in the road transport industry and is registered under the Fair Work Act 2009.

Paul was appointed as an Industry Member of the Road Safety Remuneration Tribunal in June 2012. During his time on the RSRT he participated in several enquiries established by the President into the following industries:

  • Oil, Fuel and Gas
  • Cash in Transit
  • Waste

He is also an alternate director of TWUSUPER, the industry super fund for the freight and logistics industry.
