Tune Your Fleet


As part of an ongoing strategy to assist transport businesses reduce their fuel consumption and lower emissions, the Victorian Transport Association (VTA) and the State Government together are providing information to fleet operators, owner drivers, as well as freight and logistics users/clients.

Tune Your Fleet focuses on various ways that fleet operators and drivers can reduce their fuel consumption to achieve best practice by paying attention to areas such as:

  • Tyres
  • Aerodynamics
  • Wheel Alignment
  • Routing and Scheduling
  • Staff Awareness Information
  • Equipment Specification etc.

Seminar Sessions

The VTA is running a series of information seminars to introduce and develop Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and calculators for fleets, drivers and freight consignors for various fleet operation types and sizes.

The Tune your Fleet sessions are four hour sessions designed to assist fleet operators to reduce fuel consumption and emissions as well as improve safety outcomes. The program concentrates on the key items that influence fuel consumption including:

  • Driver behaviour
  • Aerodynamics
  • Vehicle specification
  • Tyres and maintenance
  • Fleet and route optimisation

Leading experts will cover these topics and help attendees to work on appropriate options and measures for their own fleet performance outcomes.

The session dates are:

  • Wednesday 22nd April
  • Monday 11th May
  • Tuesday 9th June
  • Monday 6th July
  • Wednesday 12th August
  • Monday 24th August

These sessions will also provide the opportunity for attendees to participate in a fuel and safety benchmarking exercise that will be one of the features of Freight Week in September. All attendees will be invited to attend the Tune your Fleet plenary session to be held during Freight Week, 7th to 11th September at the Melbourne Tennis Centre
